The Conscious San Jose Yoga And Music Festival
By Gundeep Singh Bhamra
The first annual Conscious San Jose Yoga and Music Festival was held at St. James park in busy downtown San Jose. It was a well-organized event filled with the vibrant South Bay conscious community. The event was a full day filled with lots to choose from, including various types of yoga classes and dance classes from well renowned teachers from the Bay Area. There was live music, dancing and of course several vendors sharing their beautifully hand-crafted products.
In addition to the great music, yoga and boutique shops, there were great people! There were various yoga types from Restorative, Vinyasa, Kundalini, Acro yoga and more! The main “Eclipse” stage was filled with great performances from the likes of “The Heartifact” and “Nu Ethnic," both of which were incredible with their unique repertoire of songs. Later in day “Aki” went Bollywood and got everyone dancing. Other highlights included hula hooping, delicious food options like Rosie’s kitchen, tacos, fresh kombucha and so much more.
One of my favorite classes was the Sound Healing and Kundalini Yoga class with Enrique at the Earth Den which involved deep meditation and some powerful kriyas. Rebecca Rogers’s yoga flow called Happy Hips and Healthy Relationships got a lot of attention, and so did the Kundalini Yoga class with Naomi Charanpal.
I loved talking to the vendors and learning more about their products, I bought a CBD bath bomb which was graciously hand crafted by Ashley Brown, who lives in the Santa Cruz mountains. Her offerings also included sunscreens, face masks, soaps and essential oils. Jessica from Hot Chakras Yoga had a great collection of vibrant color bags and she wanted me to make a shoutout on how much she loves SF Yoga Mag!
One of my favorite parts of the event was its inclusiveness to the homeless community. As many of us are aware, San Jose downtown is an area with a lot of homeless people. The event was very welcoming to the homeless people and even provided them free food with the gracious donations for the people at the event and by the help of food carts available at the venue. Overall, I had a great time and I am looking forward to next years festival.
