How To Optimize Life For Health And Wellness

The word “optimize” is used frequently these days because of the way search engine algorithms work - websites need to optimize for the search engine to find target customers - but the word can be applied to any mode of life. Here is how to optimize your lifestyle for health and wellness. 

Practice Meditation 

People sometimes take meditation for granted; after all, how useful is it to sit and do nothing for an hour each day when you could be productive in your work or personal life? It is a logical way of thinking, but it misses the point. Meditation is not about doing nothing; it is about integrating your mind and body and creating an ideal situation for you to reflect on and manage your life. 

Meditation doesn’t have to mean a long sit in the morning or evening - although a meditation of half an hour or longer is definitely more beneficial. If you know how to meditate, you can use this excellent technology to reduce stress during the day and optimize your happiness when you’re feeling gloomy. Meditation can mean sitting on a cushion, but it can also be used on a commute.  

Eating Patterns 

Meditation can be thought of as watering your roots. If you have house plants, you will know that they need to be watered a couple of times a week to keep them healthy and happy. It’s the same with your meditations. We need to create healthy and supportive patterns in our lives. An eating pattern is important as well; it can determine your cravings and how you feel in your body. 

When we live in automatic pilot mode, not think about when we eat or what we eat, the body uses this as its eating pattern, and you will start to crave foods at strange times. Chances are you will start to crave unhealthy foods instead of white chicken chili recipe, as the body needs to maintain energy. A pattern of eating should be consistent, healthy, and work for the metabolism.     

Stay Active 

Optimizing your health and wellness is about finding the best rhythms and patterns for your lifestyle and going with the flow. This is better than creating a strict schedule of gym time in your week because it takes the pressure off you, reduces stress, and increases your well-being. Create an active life by thinking about the physical activities that you enjoy doing in your life. 

Some people have fitness goals like building muscle, increasing their stamina for a marathon, or reducing their body weight. If you have a serious aspiration like this, you might need a serious fitness schedule, but for most people, some yoga during the week, a walk or hike on the weekend, or a swim and sauna at the health spa are enough to keep you healthy and happy.    

Mental Health 

The quality of your mental health can make a big difference to your quality of life, especially if you are predisposed to anxiety, depression, or stress. These mental health conditions can be debilitating for some people, even in mild cases, and need to be resolved quickly to improve quality of life and well-being. There are plenty of ways to treat common mental health issues.  

If you are suffering from anxiety, even mild social anxiety, you can improve your life by acknowledging the issue and working with it constructively. Try mindfulness techniques in stressful situations. When you are feeling stressed, bring all of your attention to your senses and your breathing, this slows the heart rate and reduces your stress. CBT can also be very helpful.    

Career Objectives 

We all need a life purpose to be healthy and happy, so if you are unhappy in your career or you think it is time for a change, start thinking about the kind of work that would make you happy. Younger people tend to opt for careers with high salaries; after all, they need to get ahead in life. But when you are a bit older, you can focus more on the type of work that is more nourishing. 

If you need a change, but don’t know what direction to move in, create a list of ideal work situations. Maybe you would like to work with people or animals, or maybe you would like to work with a passion or interest you have. Even if you start the new mode of life on the side, it opens up a space in your life to begin working towards an ideal life situation and lifestyle.
