How Feeling Lost And Healing Crystals Inspired A Successful Activewear Brand

If you love crystals, astrology and leggings, you need to check out the super cool activewear brand, Confused Girl, founded by Giovanna Silvestre. This beautiful line of activewear includes leggings, capris, shorts and headbands, all inspired by the healing properties of crystals.
The Story
Why the name “Confused Girl?” Giovanna’s answer is simple: “I started this brand when I was going through an extremely confusing and difficult time in my life,” she said. Giovanna then started a video blog and wrote about what she was going through. The video blog took a life of its own, which led her on “a spiritual journey to find my true nature.”
Along this journey, Giovanna met a healer who had a profound effect on her. He had a collection of crystals and invited her to choose two to take home. “I had these crystals in my room and felt so much joy when I walked past them. One day I was meditating and I had a vision of creating a line of women’s activewear that was inspired by these crystals. So with no money and an idea, I started the journey.”
Giovanna started out by designing three pairs of leggings then slowly added to the collection. Now, three years later, the brand has taken off and has been featured on VH1, Yoga Digest, Yoga Magazine, Silicon Beach Magazine and on the cover of LA Yoga.
The Swag
The prints on the leggings are created from high-resolution images of real crystals, and the fabric used is four-way stretch, breathable and moisture wicking, making the leggings great for yoga, dance, other fitness classes, surfing or just cruising around town.
The names of each print are based on the fundamental healing attributes of a particular stone. “For example, our abundance legging is inspired by a malachite stone. Malachite is a stone of good fortune and abundance,” Giovanna said.
The line also offers zodiac sign-inspired tank tops. “Our motto is ‘Find Your True Nature,’” Giovanna said. “I truly believe that understanding your zodiac sign is a great way to decode the soul. It’s just another way to get in touch with yourself.”
A Brand With a Beautiful Message
Giovanna said that it wasn't easy to admit that she was lost and that she felt a bit shameful. But the journey led her right to where she needed to be. “The beautiful thing about bringing something to the light is it no longer haunts you. I embraced where I was and things started to get better. It is really easy to accept yourself when you are feeling good and your life is the way you want it. But it isn’t so easy to accept yourself when things are tough and you are confused. Confused Girl is about accepting yourself just as you are at this moment.”
